Russia and Germany called for the preservation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (CFA), a nuclear deal. On Friday, 11 May, a telephone conversation between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel took place.

Separately, the policy attention was focused on the internal crisis in Ukraine. The issues concerning the establishment of the UN mission for the protection of OSCE observers were not ignored.
